    Vulpes, oddly I think our ground cover rose is still showing a few blooms, but the Christmas Rose does seem to do well. We have a much less cooperative Easter version, which so far has failed to flower.

    Words, Helleborus niger tend to prefer acid soil, where as H. × hybridus will tend to take a heavier soil, if rich enough. The books say H. niger don't like to be moved but the other type divide quite happily. The only downside is you have to crawl on your hands and knees to get a decent photo of the flowers! :rolleyes:

    Vulpes, interesting. We have fairly alkaline soil here (on chalk), but those are planted in deep shade beneath beech trees. They do ok, and yes I get muddy taking of photos of them :right:
