These are once again from yesterday… a few more of the late night badger and fox pictures, starting with Shy Boy in a typically silly pose.
Shutterbug takes being a fox rather more seriously.
And the young badger is just too cute to leave out.
A couple of other photos from earlier in the week (for balance). Here's another heron shot, picked for the posture (though it can't match the 'floating' heron of a couple of days ago).
This moth was fluttering against a window on Thursday night.
I can't i.d. the moth, but next up is a ringlet butterfly (one that I have rarely – if ever – posted previously).
Finally, to celebrate summer (which is here again with a vengeance), a photo of a bee by some of the garden flora.
Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon EOS 7D. Lenses as follows: Shy Boy EF70-300mm 4.5-5.6 DO IS; Shutterbug, badger and moth EF 24-105 F4L IS USM; heron, bee and butterfly EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS.

19 Aug 2012Interesting butterfly … I can't say that I've ever seen one like it.
I don't want to know what that heron was doing (or trying to do).
The moth at the window … double-hung sash, the bottom sash up?
That cut over the eye must have been really recent in the earlier shots … it was an "oozer", I reckon, and now it's scabbed up nicely.
Send pictures of that baby badger to Steiff.

19 Aug 2012Shy Boy managed the 'silly' look extremely well I see.

20 Aug 2012Nice to see the ringlet. I think I've seen more butterflies in the last week than I have in the whole summer :right:

20 Aug 2012Darko, the heron seems to be there quite a lot lately. It was perched on the tree today. I'll post a picture later.

20 Aug 2012Adele, it's been a bad year for the butterflies. The small white are dominating the garden at the moment. Very few peacocks, and no painted ladies (unlike the veritable deluge we had of them a few years ago).

20 Aug 2012dW, rignelts are fairly common, but as woodland butterflies they're not always easy to spot. As for the moth, that's a double-glazed door it's on, hence all the reflections. Shutterbug's cut is healing up fine… just one of the many scrapes they get over time. I can just imagine a Steiff toy, thoguh I think I have some even cuter shots they could model.
