A little fox cub treat (or two)

My real sighting of the day was a fleeting glimpse of stoat (but it evaded the camera), so I'm afraid there's nothing more interesting to show than some fox cubs. I'm sure you're devastated 😉

This first shot shows mum with the two cubs. It's not a great shot, but it was nice to capture them in a single frame.

They're still very shy and tend to hang back when I'm out there, but this one ventured a little closer.

Here's one of the cubs lurking at a slightly safer distance.

Bold was very relaxed, and while the troublesome two wandered off at the rear of the garden she took the opportunity for a quiet moment to herself.

I've managed a couple of shots of stoats in the past, but they don't hang around for long. Very strange creatures, but quite fascinating. Fox cubs, are just great fun!

Actually I would like to see you get pictures of a stoat. I've gotten fleeting glimpses a couple of times and they seem such unusual creatures.

But the cubs will do. 😀

 I forgot about those. 😮

Soon they would get used to you, strange man walking around with something in his hands, getting happy whenever sees them 😀

Well, I think I prefer the photos of the fox cubs! Very nice to see them together in the first photo.

Neil, if you mean the decent stoat shot I was really lucky. Lined up to photograph dragonflies at ground level and out it popped, just for a moment. My first photo of a stoat and I doubt I'll ever get a better one.

Lois, the photo of the stoat would have been rubbish even if I had been quick enough (I was too far off, light was not great and it was moving quickly). The fox cubs certainly win on cuteness 🙂

Mark, thanks. The cubs do seem to be getting a little bolder but I have to keep very still or they rush off. A few frames on the trail cam last night.

Awww! (Again!) They're lovely. Just make sure that you don't leave any shoes outdoors 😉

Stoats are ridiculously tricky, although some of their North American relatives are even worse. I know someone who ran a wildlife watching company in Jasper for 28 years without ever seeing a fisher or wolverine.

Adele, the cubs tend to bring shoes to us, well they have in the past. We seem to have four (just reviewed last nights trail cam footage), so plenty of garden mayhem is forecast! 🙂
