A quiet period…

Time for a very brief catch-up. The weather is miserable. Wet, grey, windy; all of which means that the chances to spend much time with the camera have been seasonally limited.

The foxes have been relatively quiet, though they continue to wander through the garden between about 1.00am and 6.00am. The badger has shown up several times as well. But as for photos, precious little to show.

South downs on a grey morning

That was Friday. Saturday morning was rather better, and I spent a few minutes on Seaford seafront, which is just along the coast from here.

Flat in one direction. Not so in the other.

There are some good wetland areas nearby (I saw a teal but the photo really isn't worth posting). I didn't have much time to explore on this visit, but I may head back there in the future. Today though was a trip to London, which despite the commuter run does have its compensations…
That's a cormorant perched in the middle

Yes, I was back by the Thames. Terrible light (everything was shot at ISO 1000, and even then often at only around 1/200s). That shot was taken across the width of the river, but it wasn't the only cormorant about.

There's an outside chance of some brighter weather towards the end of the week. Whether I'll get to see much of it, is another matter. I'll do my best though.

Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 40D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens, except the two taken at Seaford which were with the EF70-300mm 4.5-5.6 DO IS lens.

During summer, do people go to that beach to swimm and catch some sun? It looks like it even though I suppose sea is not that warm like in Medeterranean.

Darko, lots of people will sunbathe, but you have to be brave to swim. Like you say, the water is quite cold!

I have to say the sea in Cape Town was quite cold! :smurf: as its the Atlantic, we didnt go to the warmer beach due to the recent Shark attack :yikes:

Neil, oh for some decent weather. It makes such a difference. I think its just cruel when the sun is out all morning and then disappears for an hour at 1pm.

Mark, I hadn't realized the sea would be cold in Cape Town. Sensible to avoid shark areas (if you can)
