Even the autumn is struggling to provide anything approaching consistent weather, but today was sunny. Many of the leaves have already fallen, but those that remain tree-bound are providing a welcome burst of colour.

And where the leaves have fallen, the lack of foliage means that it's the time of year when the small birds come into their own. First a blue tit.

And then a goldfinch…

Now I just need to get a decent sunset. Maybe soon.

  1. They both seem to enjoy a nice weather

  2. I know what you mwan, Words … I'm glad I got my Autumn colours shots when I did, because it was about a three- or four-day break in the weather that, at best, was totally sunless, and at worst, was what the Scots call "dreich".

Since then, we've had sun, but no leaves. Sigh! So I've been shooting gulls, too … LOL.

  3. Lovely goldfinch. The light on the tree is great. I've struggled to find any really good autumn vistas this year. So much rain – if it carries on like this, we'll have ten feet of snow when the temperatures start to drop! Clear, cool and bright would be very nice.

  4. dW, yes it's been very patchy this year, but with all that we've seen more sun than during the summer (or it feels like that anyway). And there are, as you say, always the gulls!

  5. Adele, it is getting tiresome. The best times of day are when I'm in work. I'm still waiting for the low sun and rising mists just after dawn. Those are the shots I want. I do!!!
