A snowy day…

Being perched on the top of the Downs, with hills leading out in all directions, things grind to a halt when we have a heavy snow fall. Roads are treacherous, and the elevation here means that the temperature is always a little lower than the headline figure so the thaw takes longer. The snow does, however, add something rather special to the landscape.
View from the garden

The smaller birds were busy in the garden (I filled the feeders for them).
Blackbird (female)

Blue tit and sparrow

It's a…

…robin!

And finally, a snowman in a local park

Is that an E.T version of Snowman 😆 !!!!! Its very beautiful i think its stayed a bit even here overnight but will be very slippery.

When i was walking to the train station yesterday to go to PHAB Club, i nearly slipped over on the ice and someone caught me just in time, that was lucky! They grit the roads but not the paths thats weird, so i walked on the road edge the rest of the way watching traffic. 😛

Iam gonna finish off shopping today and deliver more presents to friends and then iam all ready for Christmas yay. 😀

    😆

It's extremely icy under foot here. I've just been out for a 2.5 hour hike and can thank my heavy hiking boots for keeping me upright (and out of A&E with a couple of broken wrists! :insane: ) Very beautiful, though.

You're lucky to still have sparrows. I haven't seen one in the garden for years.

Mark, it's still very icy outside and not much has cleared from the roads. It may thaw a bit later today but there's still lots of snow on the ground at the moment and very few cars out. They don't grit the small roads here at all.

Good luck with the Christmas shopping. Sounds like you've been much better organized than me!

Darko, I need to put some peanuts in the feeder for the mouse. 😉

No, no, I'm fine! 🙂 That's what would have happened if I hadn't been wearing some pretty solid footwear this morning. It's spectacular but slippery out there :insane: I didn't fall at all, but I hear that a lot of people have.

Adele, the sparrows have only recently reappeared. It's still very icy outside here. Glad you were ok. It must have been beautiful out there.

My main concern about slipping was damage to the camera  Broken bones heal more cheaply than photographic equipment 😉
