It's Summer!!!! A blazing hot day with at least another day like it to follow. And out in the early morning sunshine, by the fields, a young blue tit was twig-sitting.

Meanwhile, over to Falmer Pond the heron was back, and given last week's performance I have a feeling it's not planning on taking too much notice of this sign.

There's also yet another family of moorhens. This is the third brood this year, and the chicks are tiny. Tiny, but greedy 😉

They look well behaved and orderly in that shot. It's not always so polite. Watch the one on the right in this sequence. I've named him David Moorhen, a world-class athlete in the making. He's already got the 500mm record covered.
