I headed down to Sheepcote Valley early this morning. The light wasn’t perfect and I thought my luck was out (again), until I spotted two gulls harassing ‘something’ in the distance. It was an owl. By the time I got close the gulls had long gone. The short-eared owl’s hunting had been cut short and it was resting quietly on a small tree.

I would have loved to stay longer and watched it return to its hunt, but I had very little time and needed to get into work. I’ll keep trying though!
