Birds and Light

Today was the first decent sunshine we've had in days. To get the really good light I ought to be out at dawn, but I certainly wasn't going to complain and at around 8.00am it was perfectly adequate for my purposes. So I headed to the pond, to try out a few things. There's always something there to photograph, but I wasn't expecting quite such an interesting subject first thing in the morning. Not one woodpecker, but two. And one of them a fledgling 🙂

Taking those photos got me to thinking about other shots among the gravestones. And sure enough another adult/fledgling combination soon appeared.

As well as the blackbirds, a young blackcap was flitting around an apple tree that overhangs the churchyard.

The last two shots for today were taken at lunchtime. This time the subject is a very flappy duck.

Darko, graveyards are perfect habitat for many smaller animals. Quiet, overgrown (well this one is overgrown), and plenty of perches for the birds!

Adele, I could scarcely believe my eyes when I spotted those woodpeckers posing like that. Photos were more or less into the sun, but it gives a nice effect.
