Well I'm finally able to upload photos properly again. I dumped my old router (a Linksys WAG54G) in favour of a NetGear router. If not exactly flying, my 1MB connection is now holding steady and the uploading problems of the past few weeks seem to be over.

Another glorious spring day today, and although the smaller creatures are not yet out in force, there was still plenty to enjoy.

First the bugs.Peacock Butterfly – tongue extended

A better view

And with the tongue curled

Bee hovering by a grape hyacinth. You can just see the pollen sac.

And now the birds…

Greenfinch

The magpies put on a great afternoon display

The wood pigeon kept a beady eye on everything

And finally, a sparrowhawk strayed into view!

There's a new Butterflies and Bugs album. I'll be adding more shots over the next few days.

  1. Another wonderful set.

  2. Photographs are excellent, I can't tell which one is better than others. You are expert.

  3. I agree – all these are amazing

I especially like the drinking butterfly though! I assume these are with the new macro lens?

  4. Thanks. Still not a patch on Andy's flutterbys though! And I was using the EF 24-105 lens, not the macro for these. The macro gets in closer, but is much harder to stabilize and not ideal for moving targets.
