Another of those posts which is really just a record of a few bits and pieces from the day. I'll start with a bird I've not featured for a while, the wheatear. I saw this one up near the racecourse this afternoon. I'd been to the local tip (or 'recycling centre' to give its proper name) to get rid of numerous bits of old technology (including 3 computer keyboards that I seem to have accumulated over the years). Anyway, I took this on my way back.

I then popped over to the local pond to see if the cormorant was around. No sign of him (or the heron), but out in the fields the local gulls were enjoying following the plough. This is a common sight at this time of year.

Down by the pond itself, the young moorhens have grown stilts. Or that's how it appears…

And in the garden tonight… a familiar face.

  1. Wonderful shots

  2. From a first photo I can see that South Downs is really somewhere… down 😛

  3. Erwin, thanks!

  4. Darko, the bottom of that sign says 'circular walks'… so 'South Downs Circular Walks', and the arrows on the other side are coming up 😛 A bit like re-cycling.

  5. Sami, thanks!

  6. The moorhen chicks are great! 🙂 Nice to see the wheatear!

  7. Adele, the wheatears are quite numerous at the moment. The moorhen chicks are looking quite grown up now, and the early season ones are all but indistinguishable from the adults.

  8. A Great Set Of Photos
