Sad to report that one of the longest-standing members of the Falmer Pond community of wildlife is no more. The old White Goose, who has kept a watchful eye over many broods of greylag goslings, met his end last night. All that remained this morning was a pile of feathers scattered in an adjacent field. A fox possibly. He’ll be missed, and to mark the moment two photos of him from earlier in the year.

This is a 12 image post and barely touches the surface. Usual location (Falmer Pond), at lunchtime. The rats were excelling themselves. I first spotted a group of local Health-Walkers watching running in and out of the rocks and undergrowth. Shortly after the walkers had set out on their way, some accompanied young children came over to watch the rats frolicking. They were fascinated. Me, I just sat down and started taking photos. Enjoy!
