Black Redstart at Falmer

The first of two posts tonight. This, strictly speaking, is yesterday’s but I didn’t get time to post it. The bird is a black redstart, a relatively uncommon species. There ae less than 100 breeding pairs in the UK, and fewer than 1000 wintering in this country. I saw it at Falmer, in the local churchyard, perching prettily on the gravestones.

Bread and Water (Rat Post)

The photos very much tell their own story. Bread attracts gulls and ducks, but occasionally (and on this occasion deliberately) the rodents get lucky.

That’s a tasty looking morsel!

Rat and Rock

Another very wet day here, but once again there was a brief clearing of the clouds at lunchtime… I got out to the village pond at Falmer; and so did this little rat. It thought about climbing the rock… then thought again.
