Wildlife in the Rain

The rain has barely paused today… but for wildlife there is little escape. The photos of teh gull, the cormorant and the swan were taken early this morning in fine but very persistent rain at Seven Sisters. The trail cam footage is from a couple of nights ago in the garden, when we had a bit of a downpour. The badger seems to be quite unconcerned about it.

Cormorant Makes a Splash

A nice simple post today. Seen at lunchtime at Falmer, the sun shining, a cormorant out-gunning all the gulls and ducks on the pond in its effort to make the biggest splash.

A Swimming Rat, a red Robin and a Collared Dove

Just another day at Falmer Pond, which is now filled to overflowing following the recent heavy rains. The rats are having to find other ways of getting around now their dry runs are flooded, but water isn’t a barrier to a tenacious rodent. They simply get down to swimming.

Meanwhile an altogether more colourful inhabitant, a robin, has found a nice dry perch.

Finally, this is close to a shot I’ve been after for a long time… a decent image of a collared dove in flight.
