Goose: Positive and Negative

I can’t seem to get away from the geese at the moment. The greylags were out and about as usual. I took a few standard shots of them: landing on Falmer pond, grazing the grassy banks, swimming. And then I turned to taking detail shots of their feather patterns. The final shot is a colour inversion (negative) created in Lightroom.

Egyptian Goose at Falmer!

Well it’s definitely the week of the goose down at Falmer Pond. Today’s surprise visitor was a lone Egyptian goose. These are very pretty birds (if you are in London there are plenty in Regent’s Park), and a species I’ve not seen locally before. It kept very much to itself, and was briefly dive-bombed by a couple of herring gulls.

Greylag Geese Photo Special

As well as the hybrid goose yesterday, the more conventional greylags were also putting on a nice display. This pair were keeping to themselves at the far end of the pond, and had found a conveniently sunken rock to stand on.
