Not a Lot to Report

If you’ve been thinking that January has been as wet as you can remember, you’re right. It’s been raining again today and for much of the south this will be the wettest start to the year in living memory. There were small breaks in the weather today, though they were slight and always with a lingering hint of drizzle. So not many photos, though I’ve become quite fond of seeing the Muscovy ducks flying… they brighten up even the gloomiest mornings.

I didn’t fare much better later in the day. There was still more than a hint of rain about, and the winds were building (though thankfully we seem to have escaped the forecast gale). This pretty pony didn’t seem to mind to much, what with having such a fine shaggy winter coat.

But really it was all rather desolate. Roll on spring.

Cold and Frosty Morning

It was another beautiful morning, colder with low hanging mists and a slight frost on the ground. This is the scene at Seven Sisters, shortly after the sun topped the Downs.

I missed out on a beautiful shot of a little egret (it flew off before I could reach for the camera), but I did manage a couple of shots of a redshank flying over the water.

The Canada geese are still around, happy to take short hops across the fields to find new grazing.

And always more sheep!

Is that a Starling I See?

A few photos from down on the farm…

I couldn’t see the joke but something had certainly amused this sheep.

Further down the valley, something was on the move. A dark cloud swept over the sheep, swirling low over the filed, disappearing into the grass and then rising up once again. Yes, the starlings were on the move.
