More Sunny Fox Photos

Just a short update with some photos from this afternoon, but before those here’s a photo from Monday night in which Pretty is showing very clear signs that she is pregnant. That may also explain why a male fox has been in close attendance several times recently. He’s been very shy, but I do have some trail cam clips of them together. Her den must be fairly near, so it’s looking good for more cubs in the next month or so.

The rest of the blog are some photos of her taken late this afternoon. I love this time of year as the late afternoon sun produce some wonderfully rich light.

Sunny Saturday with Pretty Vixen

The pretty vixen showed up yesterday afternoon, out enjoying the sunshine. When she first appeared she was relaxed and friendly, though became quite excitable when a male fox briefly showed up (he successfully evaded he camera and only showed his face for a couple of seconds). These are some shots of Pretty.

Those shots were in the early part of the afternoon. She was back again later as the sun sank in the sky producing some rich red light.

The Pretty Vixen

Over the past few months I’ve been getting very regular photos of the Pretty Vixen at night, and have been featuring some of them on the Fox of the Day page. Today though, she showed up mid afternoon. It was overcast (drizzle in the air), but even in poor conditions she’s a fine looking young fox. She has tweaked her rear right leg (limping), but does seem able to put weight on it so it seems no more than a very typical fox injury. I’m also trying to work out whether her apparent plumpness is just the result of her thick winter coat… or something else.
