The spawn is developing nicely, and the transformation from spherical blob to tadpole is now clearly visible.

The newts are happy too!

I'll post more photos over the coming days. It won't be too long before the tiny gilled tadpoles emerge.

  1. That will be interesting! I used to love catching tadpoles when I was a kid. I don't think my mother ever got over finding a bunch of them in the bathub.

  3. Adele, the newts are like kids in a candy store. They tend to cruise the edge and then dive right in to the mass of eggs, grabbing what they can.
