Just a quick pair from today. First up our friendly speckled bush cricket, still clinging to the same leaf as a week ago!

And down by the (garden) pond, a young newt ventures out of the water. If you look closely you can see the vestiges of its gills, soon to be fully absorbed.

  1. Erwin, thanks!

  2. I really must start paying attention to the pond here. It's many years since I've seen newts in it, though 🙁

  3. Adele, I don't do anything to our pond except watch it occasionally. They seem to like it that way. Fewer frogs this year, but otherwise it's fairly healthy (if a bit overcrowded with weed).

  4. That cricket has probably found the best possible feeding place in your garden 😀

  5. Darko, I guess so. I may go and check on him (her?) in a few minutes. :bug:

  6. Very nice
