Dunnock

The dunnock is one of the more frequent visitors to the garden, and among the bolder of the small birds. It flits quite happily between shrubs, and will occasionally dive low into the undergrowth. It is generally fairly tolerant of human presence, which is certainly a help when taking photos. One other unusual fact (gleaned from the RSPB Complete Birds of Britain and Europe is that in the mating season it tends to form ménages à trois of one male and two females (or occasionally two males and one female) :eyes: Today though, there was only one in the garden helping itself to seed from the feeder.

    Thats a beautiful bird, i think i saw one in my garden but it has black above its eye so it might have been a sparrow i saw:)

    Beautiful portrait shots :yes: I always find dunnocks a dreadful challenge because mine spend almost all their time lurking in dark shadows!
