Feathered Fury

The local crows share some nearby trees with the local wood pigeons. Usually they rub along ok together, but every now and then one of the crows picks a fight, diving into the tree to drive out the pigeons. I happened to be facing in the right direction when trouble erupted this afternoon.

    Thanks! I see them do this fairly regularly but the spats appear from nowhere. No winners. It's the crow that starts it, but within a minute or so (quick overhead circuit of the gardens) there all back in place as though nothing has happened.

    I was using the EF 70-300 DO IS USM lens. I was maybe 60 feet away (max) I would think. Difficult to judge distances but they were just beyond the end of our garden and I was in the middle somewhere.

    Can I ask a geeky-question? What lens were you using? You've certainly given us something to aspire to 🙂

    I'm wondering how close to the action you were…

    So at most, maybe 20m. Optimal background with the blue-sky behind the action, and a good USM lens.

    Bet you were glad you had a DSLR at this point and not a compact 🙂

    Absolutely… the pigeons always remind me of Spitfires!
