I'm getting spoiled for choice at the moment. There are the gulls of course, but we also have nest boxes scattered about the place which are now becoming very noisy and active. I've also spotted some sites where jackdaws are raising young (though they are well hidden from the camera). I've been tipped off about a family of foxes in one of the nearby fields (I've not seen them yet), and another site where a fairly bold fox has been seen quite regularly. One thing's for sure, a lunch hour isn't long enough. And that's not counting time to go chasing dragonflies!

Anyway, today I decided on a truncated route. First off was a quick check on the gulls. I caught them mid nap 😉

Then it was down to see the bird boxes. This one has a resident family of blue tits.

I was already running short of time, but decided to head for the fields. I didn't make it to where the foxes have been reported as I was captivated by a rather bold (or foolhardy) young rabbit.

In fact I didn't see any foxes on Friday at all. But just as the clock ticked over into Saturday I looked outside and saw the old dog fox accompanied by the bold vixen. These two seem to be taken with each other ;). They were together on Thursday night, as well as on numerous other occasions recently. I had the wrong lens on the camera on Thursday, so struggled to get decent shots. I was better prepared today.

Camera note: gull chicks photo with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens + Kenko Teleplus 1.4x Pro 300 DG teleconverter; the blue tit and rabbit were taken with the same lens minus the teleconverter; and the foxes were photographed with the EF 24-105 F4L IS USM.

  3. That rabbit is looks excellent  So, you think there will be more fox cubs soon?

  4. Pleasant dilemma! 😉 The rabbit is very, very cute! 😀

I've found it quite difficult to photograph birds lately. It's easier in the winter when the flocks are larger and the branches are bare.

  5. Protest for longer lunches!

  6. All great time amd excelent photos!

  7. ZT, thanks. I like that shot too!

  8. Cynthia, you're very welcome!

  9. Vulpes, I'll add that to the list 😉

  10. Adele, I'm certainly spolied for choice. Not complaining, mind. I know what you mean about the birds. You can hear them everywhere, but trying to see one (let alone photgraph them) in the trees is nearly impossible. We've a nest in the trees in the garden. Either tits or sparrows. I've no idea which. I can't see the nest. The adults shoot in and out at terminal velocity and are unidentifiable flying objects (to me anyway). Early spring is perfect though!

  11. Lois, glad you enjoyed it!

  12. Darko, that rabbit was so cute. I love the white spot on its head. I don't think we'll be seeing any new cubs soon. Someone would have to stay home to babysit and I think they like going out too much 😉

  13. Nice stuff. love the sharp image of the baby rabbit 🙂

  14. Neil, cheers. The bunny was great. I was just a few feet away and for once haven't had to do more than a minor crop.

  15. Lovelly Rabbit  i saw one the other day when cycling home, he dashed under my bike and ran across the road 😛

  16. Thanks Mark. My best rabbit shot by a long way.
