Well one flying duck to be precise… but I've somewhat neglected these all too familiar friends of pond and waterway in favour of more exotic species. This one shot may make some amends.
Mallard
From the same spot I picked out one of the many black-headed gulls that inhabit the park.
Black-headed gull (in winter plumage)
And the inevitable (?) heron.
I was going to keep with the flight theme today, but as I was leaving the park a passer-by pointed out a jay. Or to be precise, a pair of jays.
No fox photos today. I could hear them in neighbouring gardens, but they were keeping a safe distance. Nice to see Orion adorning the autumn sky though!
Camera note: all shots taken with the EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM.

Better than a flying fire extinguisher which marred an otherwise excellent day.

13 Nov 2010Adele, thanks! What I'd really like though is a Flying Dutchman rather than a Crawling Snailtrain. I'm sure you would too.

13 Nov 2010I keep looking at the 100+ carriage Canadian freight trains and wishing we could put those on the London mainline!
