Fox Cubs!!!

This was going to be a post about buzzards… buzzards jousting on the wing, buzzards scrapping with crows and rooks, buzzards sweeping the treetops but those shots are now on hold (I'll sort out a proper buzzard album soon). Tonight I have big news. Fox cub news 😀

Instead, I'd like to introduce the fox cubs. I think there are three of them (it's difficult to tell as they were scooting along the undergrowth at the back of the garden while Bold sat calmly further down the garden). She was keeping a listening ear out for them, unconcerned by my presence, and retrieved the one that disappeared under the fence. I'm still not entirely sure where their den is, but it must be close for them to be venturing into our domain.

Just a couple of photos tonight, but I expect that there'll be more soon…
The first fox cub of the year

No, I can't tell them apart yet 😉

They are so cute, as usual for a lot of cubs at that age 😀 It is nice she decided to bring them to your garden, that means this is a safe place for them

Mickeyjoe, this is the 6th season, though occasionally we've not seen any of the cubs (or only very rarely). Looks like this *might* be a good year. 🙂

Darko, yes, she seemed to bring them in. They were obviously very close last night. She came into the garden, left after a little while and then a few minutes later came back with the cubs. 🙂

Mark, it's also a great feeling seeing them for the first time. They're so small at this age. I think they were born on March 8/9th, so they are about 6 weeks old. 🙂

Adele, they look a real handful… just at that stage where everything is an adventure. She'll have her paws full for a while yet. It might explain why she is spending time sleeping in the garden at night. Anywhere to get some rest!
