An afternoon working in the garden… with just a brief spell of sunshine as it slipped out from beneath the cloud cover. The small birds were flitting among the trees and although I only took a few shots, it was good to be out there.
A pair of goldfinches
And greenfinches
Even a starling got into the act.
Tomorrow looks cold, but sunny. That's fine with me.
Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 40D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.

9 Jan 2011Lois, thanks. That last shot was in the 'lucky' category, but a nice moment.

9 Jan 2011Adele, the goldfinches seem to be doing well locally, and I've seen plenty of greenfinches and some chaffinches. No siskins down here, or bramblings.

9 Jan 2011Always good to see the finches. I wonder how the weather has affected the siskins and bramblings – not that I've seen either so far this winter.

9 Jan 2011Wonderful photos. I love the way you've caught them just landing/taking off in the last one.

11 Jan 2011I know too well from my budgies.
But in wild birds, it is still difficult.
