There was a light drizzle today. I had my old 400D Canon with me. It's funny how something once so familiar now seems so alien to use, but it takes photos and that's enough. And I'll be kitted up properly again at the weekend 😀

The lake was quiet (not many people venture out in the wet… odd that 😉 )

I did get a rare (for me) shot of an Egyptian goose on the water, and given events in Egypt it seems fitting to post a shot or two.

The herons had deserted the treetops, and were gathered on the lawns.

One of the duck feeders seemed to have brought some food especially for them. Hence this scramble!

Back home the trail cam revealed that the badger had been back. If it keeps to its current timetable I'm unlikely to get any photos. The recent visits have been at around 4.00am. The foxes are constant through the night, except when I'm around. I did glimpse a fox tonight (it evaded the camera though). I'll have to be patient.

  1. Words, wonderful! I don't think I've ever seen that many Herons together in close proximity to each other. Except at a nest site.
Funny the Egyptians don't look quite so odd when they are in the water!

  2. It looked yesterday as well from us.
Only we have even a little snow.
    The herons are great pictures.
As they take off and land is really impressive.

  3. Steffi, at least we don't have any more snow forecast. The herons were very lively yesterday. Such strange birds!

  4. Robin, we're lucky with the herons. There's a large colony in the park and they really don't have anywhere else to go. They just mix in with park life. The nesting site is a couple of hundred yards away from where they were congregating.

  5. Darko, I think it was a feeding game, but it looks more like American Football!

  6. Herons look like playing a game…

  7. That was my thought, too 😆

  8. Those herons look even more sinister gathered together like that!

  9. Adele, this lot were taking a bit of r 'n r. When they line up and just stare, that's the time to worry.
