We’ve got a lovely 5ft shrubby honeysuckle hedge along one side of the garden, painstakingly trimmed and nurtured by Mrs Words. It runs alongside the edge of the garden pond, and is stepped to follow the general terracing of the garden. The fox cubs have discovered the hedge and at different times two of them were clambering up it tonight to explore. Here’s a short sequence of the young vixen having a go.
They’ve some way to go before they reach the heights of this fox in the trees from 10 years ago (I can’t believe it’s been that long), but they are still youngsters so still plenty of time

8 Jul 2017Hi Charles, the hedge is about 10 years old (that’s all). It’s a fairly fast-growing shrub which creates a good barrier… but is far from fox-proof. They’ve tunnelled pathways all through it!

1 Jul 2017Haha, I think I remember that video. Also some photographs that Adele made, with foxes climbing all around in some shelter for injured animals. They are like raccoons over here 🙂

8 Jul 2017Darko, I must have posted the video several times by now. It’s easily one of my best moments with the foxes. I remember Adele’s video – she was caring for some wild foxes for a rescue centre I think.
