We're still in the grey days of November, but there was at least a hint of blue sky this morning (evidence in a minute). But grey is the dominant theme so what better subject than a grey heron, seen at my usual early morning haunt today.
As for the hint of blue sky, I had to work quickly to catch this cormorant as it flew across the small break in the clouds.
The rest are against greyer skies… fortunately masked by some slightly more picturesque backgrounds.
And one more shot, surrounded by a flock of black-headed gulls.
Final two shots tonight are of the moon, which is full and rose early evening. In the second shot some clouds are passing in front of it.
Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.

10 Nov 2011No fishing photo again 😆
Nice photos of a moon, too. While I was over Greenland in a plane yesterday, I saw the Moon and a reflection of a Sun on the wing at the same time 😎

10 Nov 2011Darko, I can't resist the 'no fishing' photos. I just need to see a fish jump next to it. That would be perfect.
And the very best to you and San!

15 Nov 2011Wonderful shots! I love the effect clouds have when they go across the moon. I've never captured it though as I would like to.

15 Nov 2011Lois, the moon was really good that night. It's difficult sometime to catch any colour, but it was still low in the sky which I think helped.

16 Nov 2011I've found that even when the moon has lots of colour, sometimes the camera will drop it and you'll get a "midnight" moon. Then you have to put the colour back in … or not.
Nice bird shots, Words.
Lois, you might be thinking of something like a painting, when you think about what you want … you can see the moon, the cloud, and the sky … all at once. I can't really think of anything specofic, offhand, but you might look at some paintings by Ryder, or some illustrations by Doré.

16 Nov 2011True, I think too that the movement of the clouds is a big factor.

16 Nov 2011dW, it's a question of shutter speed a lot of the time. I struggled to get it right when we had a lunar eclipse a few years ago. Then the moon really does become quite vivid.
