The sun has disappeared behind a thin layer of cloud again, so not the beautiful weather of the past few days, but early this morning I came across a sheepdog herding sheep. It's a scene that is somehow ingrained in me (and I'm sure many others) but I think this is probably the first time I've actually seen it in the flesh. And yes, that is a swan you can see.

The rest of the day offered little, so instead here are a few shots from the garden. The first was taken last night… the rest this evening. Plus a video treat from the trail camera.
Newt clambering out of the pond

Amorous frogs

Badger lurking in the undergrowth

And still no photos of foxes… which is all the more irksome given just how at home they are in the garden. Witness this sequence from shortly after 3.00am this morning.

Camera note: sheepdog shots taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens. Badger, newt and frogs taken with the EF 100mm f/2.8L macro IS USM lens.

  1. That's a lot of sheep for one border collie, Words. Weren't there more?

  5. dW, just one dog, but clearly very efficient at his/her job.

  6. Adele, the swan did a decent job of guarding the escape route :right:

  7. Darko, I have a feeling the swan wasn't helping very much 😀
