It was very nearly a normal spring day today. Yes, it's still on the cold side, and a little overcast; but it was dry, and the winds have dropped (but, irritatingly, are still coming from the East). The jackdaws don't seem to mind though, and collectively were putting on a good display of springtime behaviour.

This one was gathering nest material.

While another makes good its getaway with some of the bread left out for the ducks.

The rabbits also seem to be doing well, and the churchyards are a busy little playground for the youngsters. This pair paused from their play just long enough for a grabbed shot.

Even the squirrels are busy ( though I do wonder if they think autumn is just around the corner).

Back in the garden the foxes are still playing dodge-the-camera, so it's more from the trail cam (set to take stills for a little while). First is a fox with a limp. This one is of a nervous disposition, probably a yearling, and almost never willing to sit down and relax. It steals the peanuts one by one, even when on its own.

The last shot tonight (and note the temperature recorded by the camera) is a badger, facing the wrong way. Badgers have no compunction about simply settling down and scoffing whatever is in front of them.

  1. No badger shot, Words, but the others are great.

    Oooop! There's the badger!

  2. dW, not the most flattering shot, I agree.

  3. Great portraits of the jackdaws, and the rabbits are cute.

  4. Adele, it seems to be a decent year for rabbits and a very good one for jackdaws.
