Another heavily overcast day, and I only had a short gap between meetings at lunchtime. Just enough time to head to the edge of the campus where I stopped by a small plot fenced off for future building work. It's lined by some light woodland; and seems to be home to a pair of kestrels.
The light was dreadful and I cranked up to ISO 1000 and then 1250, under exposed to generate some semblance of shutter speed, and steadied the camera against the criss-cross wire fencing.

Despite high ISO, they turned to be very well
Pretty good pics considering the conditions. I just wimped out and surfed the net and tidied all day!
Thanks Darko! They're ok if I don't crop them too tightly.
Neil, yes the technology is quite impressive. The main struggle was getting something approaching a decent shutter speed, but at least that lens has image stabilization. It's at this time of year that it earns its keep.
Yes, well done! I've got…precisely nothing right now. I think I'm going to have to go back to my drawing book (literally!) to make a post :insane:
I have used similar ISO levels in very late dusk light, and afterwards have been very grateful for NEAT!
Yes, very well done!
Adele, it's tricky at the moment. On Friday I was up to ISO 1600, and have almost nothing at all over the weekend. Neat Image is great. The latest version of Canon's DPP (v. 3.7.2.0) also has some improved tools.
Lois, thanks!
Thanks Erwin!
Very well done, a great set of pict
