Very nearly a theme tonight…. and a very quick post.
First, a black swan seen early this morning at Seven Sisters, outside Eastbourne. There are always mute swans in the area, but this was a surprise sighting. That's a swallow flying past (the blur).
As well as swallows there were large numbers of the perfect flying machine, otherwise known as Apus apus or the swift.
Finally, in terms of the theme, two crows. Oh, and they're mobbing a large (female) sparrowhawk. I spotted them as I was leaving work tonight.
To close, a portrait shot of one of our fox cubs.
Camera note: first three shots taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens. Fox cub taken with the EF 100mm f/2.8L macro IS USM lens.

22 May 2013The blurred swallow by the black swan is a nice touch 🙂
And the expression on the fox cub's face is delightful

22 May 2013I`ve seen two crows mobbing a raccoon two days ago. No wonder, the raccoon was on top of a small building  ie. probably near nest or just because it was trespassing 😛

26 May 2013I like the light coming through the swift's wings. I haven't seen any black swans in Eastbourne (although my wildlife watching is restricted to the train).

1 Jun 2013Darko, I do worry for mammals when gulls have a go at them. I think some of the nastier head wounds foxes get could well come from bird attacks.

1 Jun 2013Chtoniid, I thought you might like the black swan which is from roughly your neck of the woods. The cubs are being great fun this year!

1 Jun 2013Adele, thanks! There are some nice views along the coastal railway, but yes you are unlikely to see black swans from the train.. Foxes should be fair game though; and swifts.

1 Jun 2013Yes, I saw my first swifts of the year from the train this week – and eight foxes on Wednesday morning, including two cubs!
