Another dull November day (we even had some rain tonight), but a dull day has it's advantages and means I was able to get these shots of the local moorhens.
The gulls are a good deal easier to photograph… almost too easy.
And that really was about it for the day.
Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.

30 Nov 2011Sami, I've already added a fair bit of contrast to the final shot. I could play more (I'm learning new tricks) but there is very little to work with in the original shot.

30 Nov 2011Jill, thanks! It's not often the local gulls are called 'angelic'

By the way, have you had time to write the quest article I asked for S&T? But no pressures 🙂

2 Dec 2011Definitely think that the gulls are my favourites of your experiments with this technique – maybe their light colours and clean outlines fit the method. Excellent! 😀

2 Dec 2011Adele, the gulls do tend to work well, I think because of the lack of colour/contrast. I've been pleased with some of the herons as well (but I guess that's a fairly similar colour scheme) 😉
