More around the ponds

I went back to the same two locations that featured in the previous post, and once again the house martins and swallows were abundant. The swifts are fewer in number, but still worth watching as they sweep across the sky.

Those were taken in the morning. At lunchtime it was time to seek out the dragonflies.

Camera note: all shots taken with the EF 400mm f/5.6L USM lens. For the dragonfly shots I added a Kenko Teleplus 1.4x Pro 300 DG teleconverter giving a focal length of 560mm.

the "swallows" photo is very nice- I really like the look & 'feel' of the water… and the last bird photo looks like a toddler wanting to be picked up 🙂

Glad to see you're photographing my favourite birds of all Words – and unsurprisingly – very well (of course!)
Hope you've managed to catch our live webfeed of our nesting swifts -two chicks, to fledge within a fortnight I reckon.

Jill, I've enjoyed photographing the martins and swallows. They come down to the edge of the pond early in the morning and are really quite bold.

They are all so beautiful in their own unique way. The feathers on the swallows legs make them so cute!
