The clear focus this week is on our tiny friends. They're everywhere… especially the grasshoppers. Out in the fields they were leaping out of my path, a constant stream of the little leapers. I eventually found a spot to take some photographs. First, a grasshopper posing

And now from the side…

At the edge of a building site they were congregating for their nuptials :right:

Meanwhile there were more ants. This time they were red ants, and they weren't flying, they were farming.

I saw a burnet moth (I'm not sure whether it's a six-spotted, or another variant).

And on every other flower head, the red soldier beetles were busy making lots more red soldier beetles.

I'll close with a peacock butterfly, one of many varieties currently on the wing (though strangely there have been precious few painted ladies this year).
