Newt Watch!

I went out to photograph the frog spawn tonight, but ended up concentrating on the newts which were showing more than a little interest in the arrival of large quantities of food!

There are more of the newts over on my other site.

Meanwhile, here's some more trail cam footage from last night. I re-positioned the camera to point down a little more. I suspect I missed a fair bit as several sequences were 'empty' (ie no fox). The last visit was after 4.00 in the morning. A black cat also showed up at around that time (but not included here).

The fox videos are also on my other site. And to cap it all I just looked out of the window to see a cat racing out of the garden and a fox standing tall on the pond surround (nowhere near the trail cam, and he was off before I could grab the still camera).

Camera note: all the newts were taken with the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG macro and EM-140 DG ring flash, manually focused.

Nice photos, it looks like the fox was carrying something on the first sighting. 😀

If its at 4am you stayed up late lol, a lot of Foxes are up early morning too.

Mark, there is a small amount of food to bring the fox in front of the camera. And no I didn't stay up that late (or get up that early). I need my sleep

Vulpes, I think those are females who will be egg-laying imminently.

    Great shots of the newts!

I cannot seem to download the plugin for Windows Media Player no matter how many times I try :insane: I had to download this in Firefox in order to watch it. Anyway, nice clip

Adele, thanks. The newts are fun! I'll try to sort out soemthing else for the videos. They don't seem to play well on here. They do seem to work fine over on my other site (on the video page). Maybe I'll check out Vimeo.
