First a greylag,,,

Now a couple of swans…

Lovely shots, Words, and that heron in flight is a classic.

Herons have that strange body posture while flying but obviously efficient and gracious 😀

Cranes fly in an "opposite" manner … legs tucked up, neck outstretched.

Marilyn, thans. It's actually a grey heron which I believe is slightly smaller than your blue heron. But beautiful birds to watch.

Darko, not all long-necked birds hold the neck in like that, but it makes them surprisingly compact given their overall size.

dW, thanks. I was really pleased with the greylag, just for the line/shape of the shot.

Swans stretch their neck as well.

Yes, and geese … and ducks, too, now that I think of it.
