The promised sunshine proved to be little more than a political promise, snatched away before I could enjoy it; but it was a touch brighter than yesterday, and the parakeets excelled themselves. They were once again flitting among the trees on the wooded island in the lake, but settled in areas where I could at least get a reasonably clear shot. These are a few of the pictures of these very pretty birds.
Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 40D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.

One would expect palms around… :left:
Great pictures.
I have had so far no luck
and could not take new pictures of the parakeets. :awww:
Their colour seems almost jarring against a British winter.
They are such charming birds! And they certainly brighten up the bare winter trees.
Steffi, thanks! I'm so pleased to have finally seen the parakeets, even from a distance.
Darko, you would! But they seem very happy with our woodland trees anyway 😀
Adele, they were surprisingly difficult to spot among the trees despite their bright plumage. I relied mainly on listening for their calls to locate them.
Lois, they certainly do brighten things up, and it's very odd to watch them compete with herons to find a perch!
Parrot as if you lived in Australia.Words. 😆
Pawel, yes. It is a bit of a surprise!
