We had a power cut this evening. A minor panic as I was editing some of today's photos at the time, and then a 2 hour wait until power was returned. But never one to miss an opportunity… photos by candlelight:
As for the photos, there's a small selection in the January Birds album. My personal pick for today is this blue tit.
Camera note: Candle photographed with the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG macro lens; table with the EF 24-105 F4L IS USM (long exposure); and the blue tit with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS.

I think indian light is better
At least two hours is better then a longer five or six hour power cut. We've had two or three large blackouts here the last couple years, not to mention the northeast blackout. They always seem to happen at the least convenient times.

Actually there were many here when I was younger, but we haven't had a proper one for some time. Glad you found photography opportunities through it! The closeup of the candle is great :up:

But i often go through the house when its dark, even down the stairs, its like a sense of knowing where everything is in your home and i even know where to find the light switch without fumbling!
We seem to get power cuts quite regularly. The power comes in on overhead lines out on the downs so I guess they are prone to damage by high winds and rain. 2 hours is about average, but they happen two or three times a year it seems 🙁 Nothing like major East Coast blackouts on your side of the pond Eric!
Mark – I always know where the camera is, and the torches! We had to hunt for the candles though.
Darko, thanks. I was pleased with that shot. The colours came out well. Power cuts are quite common in some parts of the UK. We have lots of old infrastructure, so bad weather brings the lines down.
