Return of the Buzzards

A glorious summer's day today. Finally! I can only hope it lasts for a few weeks, rather than the few hours of all the previous false dawns we've had this year. The sunshine lured me out into the fields at lunchtime. I'm always hopeful of seeing buzzards, but I almost tripped over this one as it emerged from a tree.

It circled for several minutes before heading out over the hills, calling in its distinctive mewling sound.

Wow! Wonderful. We have far fewer buzzards up here, but I was very surprised to see three of them circling over a local hill last weekend! :eyes:

Adele, I turned up at the right moment for these ones (there were actually two of them). I'm pleased that buzzards are heading your way.
