Well not much of note happened today. We're stranded up here in the Downs, and it's unlikely that the roads will clear before the weekend. It's not quite so bad in town, but we're at an elevation of about 500 feet (170m) which means (a) it is genuinely colder here, (b) the only way out is 'down' and the only way in is 'up'. So we get more frozen roads, and they are all hills!
I spent about an hour this evening watching for foxes (without success), though one did trot along the road outside the kitchen window earlier in the evening. The trail cam is loaded up so I may have some more footage in the morning. There's only so long I can stand outside with the stills camera. So no foxes, but plenty of photos of the snow…

I like the night view. I must take some night photos myself. If it's clear tonight, I might try to get Orion over our snowscape 😀

3 Dec 2010Adele, the gulls are dominant right now, but we've also had the black-headed variety around. They only come near us when it's cold. Orion is looking good at the moment. If it's clear it will also be cold! I'm still baffled by the forecast which suggests it will warm by about 8º overnight. :confused:

I gather the temperature in Pincher Creek (just north of Waterton) once rose by -19c to +22c in an hour. But that is Alberta :insane:
It is strange to have such a sudden change in the UK, though :confused: I wonder what has caused it?

6 Dec 2010It was certainly a HUGE amount of snow :faint: it made last January's unusual snowfall seem like a light dusting lol! (although the January one lasted longer)
Its a shame it went to quickly but i managed to end up in a blizzard in Hotham park twice and had to run home quickly before i drowned in the snow haha.

6 Dec 2010Mark, it was certainly a lot of snow in a short time. I think we actually had more overall up here in January, but that was over about a week. I got caught in one blizzard in London, but my real woes were with the trains!
