Another sequence of shots taken at Seven Sisters near Eastbourne of a mute swan, one of three that were paddling around in the narrow meanders.

When I say 'paddling around' they were also stretching their wings in the light breeze.

Plus a portrait shot. You can't really not take this sort of shot of a swan.

A few other birds were around. I'll spare you another cormorant shot, but it was nice to see an elegant redshank on the waterside.

The wigeons were flocking. It seems to be a good year for them along the South Coast.

And late on today, a small group of little grebe appeared, lit by the setting sun as the moon rose in a rapidly deepening blue sky.

  1. Really nice ones, Words … That third swan shot is great, and the moon is spectacular! Awfully light sky for 10:00 pm, or is that the time you edited it?

  2. Love the light coming through the swan's wings

  3. Adele, thanks. I struggle enough working out settings for swans. Lots of guesswork involved and not too much post-processing work, thankfully.

  4. dW, it was good to see the swans putting on a bit of a show, even if I was mainly shooting into the light. That's an edit time on the moon photo. It was actually taken a little after 5pm.

  5. Mute swan? How do you know it was mute? 😛

    Nice Moon photo
