The bold vixen is blooming and in a few short weeks will have some extra mouths to feed. Whether we'll be fortunate enough to see them depends on how close her den is. The young foxes will spend the first few weeks safely underground and won't venture a great distance for the following month after that. If their den is very near we may be lucky, but even a few gardens may be a few gardens too far.
That's a feather on her nose
Thinking about the prospect of cubs made me wonder whether we'll ever see a scene like this again… (from 2006)
Camera note: the vixen was photographed with the Canon 40D and Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG macro. The fox cubs were photographed with the Canon S2 IS.

10 Mar 2010What a squadron of cubs! Didn't you have two litters one year? If so, I'm guessing that that crowd probably comes from that time 😉 I hope they do bring this year's brood.
I'm not really expecting to see any in my garden, based on previous years, but am hoping…

13 Mar 2010Adele, yes that last shot was the year of two litters. It did get a little out of hand, so many of them. Our garden was something of an out-take from a Disney film.
