The Spider and the (Hover) Fly

Out in the garden this evening I could hear some buzzing. Frantic buzzing, incessant buzzing. I searched. it got louder. Eventually I found the source. The sound was emerging from inside a deeply curled leaf which a small spider had used for a trap.

Earlier I'd come across a tiny bug crawling up (and down) a pea stick. My field guide tells me its a common green capsid.

And because it seems a while (and she's growing up so quickly), a shot of Cheeky (the young vixen) from tonight. She's hunting bugs (with some success).

With so many bugs around I think it was a good success 😀

Cheeky seems to be at that point where she's more legs than body! She's growing up fast. Autumn will be here soon :right:

After my comment about the daddy long legs spiders, I was sitting here typing at close to midnight last night when a gigantic house spider started prowling across the ceiling! It's now outside 😉 :bug:

Adele, Cheeky looks all grown up until you see her with her mum. Then she looks her age.

Glad to hear the spiders are prowling! :bug: :bug:
