The local heron (there is just) one has been a very consistent sight at Falmer Pond recently, and I caught him this morning perched on the willow situated on the central island. This is a bird who knows how to pose for a picture.
(And apologies for some website glitches… I hope to have them resolved in a few days.)

We were in Cape Scott provincial park in northern Vancouver Island and the only birds we’ve seen were usual ones for that area – gulls, eagles, sand pipits, ravens and ospreys. But the morning when we were just about ready to leave, a heron landed on the beach. The light was perfect for a good photo but I had already packed my camera because we were expecting some rain later. Oh well, I will just try to remember it 😀
