The theory that it only rains at weekends broke down today, but I doubt any of these creatures will mind too much. The first shots of the birds were taken at Surrey University campus this morning.
That was this morning. Tonight, the rain held off (mostly), but my theory that damselfly nymphs are more active after the rain held good. The pond is teeming with them at the moment.

Camera note: the birds were taken with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens, assisted by the internal flash (a mistake not to take the main unit with me). The pond shots were all taken with the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG macro plus Canon 430EX flash unit.

Thanks Mick. I tend to shoot these with the flash set manually to about 1/4 power. It seems to help keep the colours bright.

Adele, the nymph and snail was my favourite from last night. No foxes in Surrey, though one trotted along the road outside the house last night.

Lovelly photos. 😀 I keep thinking its been wetter and cloudier than usual but that might be just me after spending 2 weeks abroad wonderwing where the sunshine has suddenly dissapeared so dramatically 😆
Mark, I know what you mean but it's probably pretty normal (rubbish) weather for the time of year. Actually, not too cold, just damp and overcast most of the time 🙁
