Where did the Spring Go?

After two or three days of acceptable spring weather it was back to mist and rain this morning, and promises of near gale force winds tomorrow. The weather somewhat curtailed the opportunity to take many photos, but this is a small selection. I may add a fox cub at the end 😉

First up are a few sheep, grazing quietly in the morning mist.

Less photogenic (and much less attractive) are the gnats. There are clouds of them everywhere.

The best sighting though was a swift. I saw a couple yesterday evening (along with some bats over the garden), but they were beginning to gather in greater numbers today having finally arrived from Africa.

As for the foxes, I got plenty more trail cam footage last night. The four young ones are still greedily bothering the vixen. This is just a short clip.

And a couple of more relaxed photos…

Camera note: all daytime shots taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens. Foxes taken with the EF 24-105 F4L IS USM lens.

dW, I love the light when it's misty and the sun is just working through.

Adele, thanks! I'm beginning to be able to work angles with them and get some cute shots and portraits.

Jill, thanks! Sheep seem to photograph well in the mists we get up here.
