Why did the peahen sit on the car?

Seen today, at lunchtime in a local village…

We're about to find out….

She sat on the car to get to the garden…

Oddly, I've always wondered that! 😉

    What fun photos!

Fantastic sequence. Hard to believe a bird that big can simple lift off like that!

    Yes Vulpes, me too 😉

However, on another level, I don't trust peacocks because, as I've mentioned before, once upon a time, a peacock mugged me for a blueberry muffin :insane: Such strange birds. Beautiful, but strange!

Adele, very fortunately I didn't have any blueberry muffins about my person. A lucky escape!

Robin, I know. It barely seems possible, though it was really more of a hop to the wall.

Vuples, yes it's one of those questions that just won't go away.

    Deb, thanks!

That is fortunate  but another peacock memory for me is their calls in the canopy while I was looking for tigers in India. Since such big cats are mainly located by the alarm calls of their prey, I'd be on the lookout if you should see the peahen suddenly panic 😉 :cat:

I'll bear that in mind. We get regular reports of the Preston Park Panther

I`ve heard a story about peacock attacking parked car for hours. Was that you who told me that? I think it was someone from Opera Community. A car was reflecting its own image and poor bird thought it was another male trespassing its territory

Wonderful set of pictures! These birds are so beautiful, noisy though. I have a friend who has about 160 wild peacocks behind her house, she said the noise is deafening at times.

Lois, 160 would certainly make a racket! This one was very quiet though.

Darko, that may have been Adele. She seems to bring out the worst in peacocks 😉

It's because I like big cats. They have labelled me as a collaborator with The Enemy :knight:

(Actually, the car story didn't come from me, but I've read of many accounts of pheasants doing that, and I've seen a tiny little goldcrest fighting its reflection on my parents' car!)
