I’ve been a fan of Patti Smith since 1975, and saw her a lot during those early punk years in the 70s when she was an absolutely transformative figure in music.
These photos are from 2005\/2006, taking in a couple of Meltdown shows (Horses and the Hendrix nights), a performance at the Brighton Dome, and finally a more intimate acoustic performance at London’s South Bank. Tom Verlaine was part of the touring band during this period. They were taken with either an Olympus 3.2MP camera (tiny) or a Canon bridge 5MP bridge camera, so fairly basic equipment in comparison with what you can get these days.
