Here's a couple but there are several more added at the end of my Kestrel album. The kestrel in these shots is a male (tell-tale sign is the blue/grey head)

Kestrel swooping over grassland

Kestrel at rest

Of course, kestrels aren't alone in meeting today's colour theme. The garden has sprouted a mass of glistening inkcaps. These tend to appear in the front corner of one of the beds. They sprout for a day or so, then rapidly disintegrate into a sludge! But they're nice while they last.

Glistening Inkcaps

The final shot tonight is the inspiration for the title of the entry. It's a copper underwing moth, which I photographed while clearing apples this evening in a vain attempt to reduce the numbers of wasps that cover them during the day.

Copper Underwing moth

Camera note: Kestrel photographed with the 40D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens. The inkcaps were photographed with the same camera and the EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens. I used the 400D with the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG macro and ring-flash for the moth.

[990,349,251
446,1152,1162,83
post-1199","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-bird-of-prey","category-fungi","category-moth","tag-copper","tag-kestrel","tag-moth","tag-mushrooms","entry
["GET
